Does anyone else's Windows Aero animations break when an instant message is received through Yahoo Messenger?

When I receive instant messages through Yahoo messenger my Windows Aero animations break. The "windows" do not fade in and out and the maximize/minimize animations stop. The only way to fix it is to apply basic settings in performance, change the theme to windows basic, then re-apply the settings. Aero remains broken even if I exit yahoo messenger. A reboot also works, but simply logging out and back in does not work. As soon as I receive another message it breaks again and I have to go through the whole process again. I have looked for the so-called Yahoo messenger designed just for Vista but could not find it out there. I am using version 9.0.0.2112. My other IMs do not have this problem and this happens on more than one computer, same version of messenger. I am using Windows Vista SP1 and all updates have been applied. Any help on a fix will be appreciated. Thanks!
