Do you really need a marriage certificate to have children?

Get a simple ring and got to the courthouse till you have the money for a wedding. On the other hand my now hubby and I had been together for awhile and we had twins and got married later. It didnt change the fact that we both loved eachother and our children I finally decided I wanted my childrens last name was the only reason wewent ahead and got married later. I believe a piece of paper doesnt change the relationship just society accepts it..
